One of my favorite things to do while traveling is to try local coffee, so you know I had to pop into a few coffee shops in Oahu. During my one week in Oahu, I got to try a variety of different coffees. I’m usually an oat milk latte girl, but I couldn’t resist trying some of the unique coffee concoctions offered at some of the cafes. But enough introduction, let’s get into some Oahu coffee shops you should check out while on the island.
Best Cafes & Coffee Shops in Oahu
Map of Coffee Shops in Oahu
Ars Cafe
Diamond Head | @arscafe
Ars Cafe is located in the Diamond Head neighborhood. Outside of serving delicious coffee, they also offer tasty sandwiches, toasts, and baked goods. Or, if you’re looking for something a little sweeter, grab a scoop of gelato. You can also combine the best of both worlds and get an affogato which is gelato topped with espresso.
We stopped here after hiking Diamond Head, and it was the perfect post hike light bite. I had the salmon bagel and a cold brew. The salmon bagel was a 10/10 and easily the best one I’ve had. My cold brew was also good, but I wish I got a latte instead.
Address | 3116 Monsarrat Ave, Honolulu, HI 96815
Hours: 6:30 AM – 4:00 PM M-TH | 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM FRI & SAT | 8:00 PM – 6:00 PM SUN
Arvo – the cutest coffee shop in Oahu
Kaka’ako | @arvo
Arguably the cutest coffee shop in Oahu, Arvo is one of those places I wish I could pick up, and put down in Phoenix. The Aussie inspired cafe is the perfect place to grab a small breakfast. I love all the fresh and relatively healthy options they offer. Chia pudding, ricotta toast with fresh fruit and honey, and a mixed green salad loaded with red onions, strawberries, walnuts, couscous, avocado, and homemade shallot vinaigrette, are just a few of the options.
The smoked salmon toast which has cream cheese, spinach, red onion, and capers sounds delicious! Arvo is definitely on the top of my list for when I return to Oahu.
Address | 324 Coral Street at SALT, Honolulu, HI 96813
Hours: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM DAILY
Island Vintage Coffee – the coffee spot all over Oahu
Multiple Locations | @islandvintagecoffee
Island Vintage Coffee is a Hawaii staple. You can find it all over Oahu, as well as Maui and the Big Island. The Mauna Kea Iced Coffee is a must. It includes iced Kona coffee, black lava sea salt, and a scoop of coconut, vanilla, or macadamia gelato. It’s also meant to come with caramel, but mine didn’t have any. I also tried the Hawaiian honey latte and the creme brûlée donut. Both were good but I recommend the Mauna Kea Iced Coffee over both.
Waikiki Address: 2301 Kalakaua Ave #C215, Honolulu, HI 96815
Hours: 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM DAILY
Kai Coffee
Multiple Locations | @kaicoffeehawaii
Stop by the Hyatt Regency to try Kai Coffee. They have your typical coffee shop options such as lattes, cappuccinos, cold brew, and flat whites. And then there’s the piccolo (a single ristretto shot topped up with steamed milk) and the Kai latte (Macadamia but latte). They also have a couple different breakfast wraps and sandwiches, if you’re looking for a bite too. Oh, and don’t forget to pick up a bottle of mac nut syrup to make your own macadamia nut lattes at home!
Waikiki Address: 2424 Kalakaua Ave #129, Honolulu, HI 96815 | Floor 1 of Hyatt Regency
Hours: 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM DAILY
Kona Coffee Purveyors | b patisserie
Waikiki | @konacoffeepurveyors
Another great coffee shop in Oahu. Kona Coffee Purveyors has some of the best pastries I’ve ever tried. The coconut pineapple almond croissant is delicious, and I wish I had time to grab another one. Speaking of time, you’ll want to get here very early or closer to closing to avoid a huge line.
Address: 2330 Kalakaua Ave #160, Honolulu, HI 96815 | Kuhio Avenue Mall Entrance – International Marketplace
Hours: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM DAILY
Hideout Coffee at The Laylow
Waikiki | @hideoutwaikiki
Coffee with a view? Yes, please! Hideout is located in The Laylow hotel on their terrace. Hideout serves as an all encompassing name for the hotel’s bar, restaurant, and coffee stand. Go up the escalator on Kuhio Ave with the sign that says The Laylow, and you’ll see Hideout to your right.
I stopped in my last day in Hawaii while running around looking for souvenirs. I got a vanilla oat milk latte, but I wish I could have stuck around to try the Braised Short Rib Skillet (two eggs any style, fried rice, kimchee, chili aioli, and fried garlic) or the the Island French Toast (country bread, warm mango compote, caramelized pineapple, and spiced maple syrup).
Address: 2299 Kuhio Ave Honolulu, HI 96815
Hours: Coffee and Breakfast 6:00 AM – 11:00 AM DAILY
Brew and Foam Coffee House
Waikiki and North Shore | @Brewandfoam
Brew and Foam Coffee House has three locations on Oahu. Two in the Waikiki area and another on the North Shore. The iced haupia mocha would be my pick. It’s essentially a mocha topped with coconut whip cream, and I’m all about chocolate, coconut blend.
Waikiki Address | 1909 Ala Wai Blvd, Honolulu, HI 96815
Hours: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM DAILY
Kuhio Address (Waikiki) | 208 Kapuni St, Honolulu, HI 96815
Hours: 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM DAILY
North Shore Address | 67-292 Goodale Ave. Waiakua, HI 96791
Hours: 6:30 AM – 2:00 PM DAILY
Farmhouse Cafe
Ala Moana | @farmhousecafe20
More restaurant than coffee shop, Farmhouse Cafe serves organic, European style dishes. However, if I lived in the neighborhood it’s the kind of place I would stop by for a morning latte. I tried the cafe mocha and it was really good! Also, the potato mille-feuille looks tasty!
Address | 808 Sheridan St Suite #107 Honolulu, HI 98614
Hours: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM MONDAY-SATURDAY
Hawaiian Aroma Caffe Ohana East
Waikiki | @hawaiian_aroma_caffe
Hawaiian Aroma Caffe Ohana East offers tons of coffee and food options. Some of their specials include the Aroma Amore (raspberry white chocolate mocha) and Dolce & Banana (banana chocolate mocha). I would personally go with the Nutella latte which is just hazelnut and chocolate. Also, the Ono french toast (Portuguese sweet bread with berries, syrup, and powdered sugar) sounds amazing!
Address | Ohana East By Outrigger, 150 Kaʻiulani Ave, Honolulu, HI 96815
Hours: 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM DAILY
