2 Days in Seville Itinerary – A Complete first-timers Guide

3627 Views

Seville is the capital of the Andalusian region of Spain. With stunning architecture and outdoor spaces, Seville deserves a spot on everyone’s Spain itinerary. I spent 2 days in Seville, but I would have loved to spend 3 or 4 there.

Out of all the cities I visited during my 10-day trip to Spain and Portugal, Seville was my favorite. There’s just something about the vibe of the city that I love, and I could definitely see myself going back there again.

That being said, if you can squeeze it in, even if you can only spend 48 hours in Seville, do it!

48 Hours in Seville

Best time to Visit Seville

High Season: April to June, September to October

During this period the weather is mild and the chances of rain are low. This is also when Semana Santa and Feria de Abril, two of Seville’s largest festivals happen.

Shoulder Season: November, February and March

If you’re looking for Decent weather and to avoid crowds this is the window to visit. Also, depending on the year Semana Santa sometimes falls in March.

We spent our 2 days in Seville at the end of November. The sky was blue, the sun was shining, and the weather was overall pleasant and perfect for sightseeing.

Low season: July, August, December and January

July and August are typically very warm hanging around the mid-90s and even creeping into the 100s. The benefit of coming during this time is that accommodations tend to be cheaper than other times. Same with December in January when the weather does the opposite and dips into the 40s and 50s.

room007 Select Tetuán

During our 2 days in Seville, we stayed at room007 Select Tetuán. It was conveniently located within a 15 minute walk of most of the attractions in Seville. We stayed in a double room and it was clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated.

Syra Coffee – Tetuan

This coffee shop is located within room007 Select Tetuán which made it an easy stop in for a morning cup or a midday pick me up.

La Terraza de Eme

Address: C. Alemanes, 27, 41004 Sevilla, Spain

If you’re looking for a rooftop bar in Seville with a gorgeous view, definitely check out La Terraza de Eme. Located across the street from Seville Cathedral, you’ll have incredible views of the church while you sip on a g&t or one of the bar’s signature cocktails. If you can, go right before sunset!

Bar Agustin & Company

Address | C. Álvarez Quintero, 3, 41004 Sevilla, Spain

We came across Bar Agustin while walking around looking for something to eat for dinner. They serve tapas and have an extensive wine list. My favorites were the russian salad with prawns and camembert with shrimp and roasted peppers jam. Not a fan of the shrimp fritters which were little patties fried with whole shrimp, head and all.

Ringo Banana

Address | C. Alhondiga, 8, 41003 Sevilla, Spain

A nice place to grab a coffee on the way to Palacio de las Dueñas. I got myself an iced oat milk latte from here that was really good. They also have food that looks really good if you’re looking for something light.

Goiko Grill

Address | C. Albareda, 14, 41001 Sevilla, Spain (multiple locations)

If you’re looking to take a break from tapas, Goiko Grill is a delicious option. I had the Kevin Bacon burger, and it was seriously one of the best things I ate our entire trip. Also, make sure to get the Goiko tea.

La Abuela

Address | C. Federico Sánchez Bedoya, 2, 41001 Sevilla, Spain

You’ll find gelato spots all around the city but there was a crowd outside of this place so we went here. I tried the amarena-like flavor and it was delicious. There’s a shop conveniently located across the street from the Seville Cathedral where there are stairs you can sit on and enjoy your gelato.

Plaza de Espana - where to go during 2 days in Seville

Plaza de España is the postcard image of Seville. The plaza is in Parque de Maria Luisa and was constructed in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. Stop by the plaza to snap some quintessential Seville pics. Also, keep an eye out for one of the flamenco demonstrations.

Casa de Pilatos

Address | Pl. de Pilatos, 1, 41003 Sevilla, Spain

Casa de Pilatos in Seville, Spain

Casa de Pilatos was originally constructed in the 15th century, and then underwent renovations in the 16th century and a remodeling in the 19th. It blends Renaissance, Mudejar and Baroque styles and showcases some of the finest classical and marble sculptures. This is one of the prettiest places in Seville and I highly recommend checking it out during your 2 days in Seville, Spain.

The Royal Alcázar of Seville (The Real Alcazar)

Address | Patio de Banderas, s/n, 41004 Sevilla, Spain

The Royal Alcázar of Seville

The Royal Alcazar of Seville, historically known as al-Qasr al-Muriq, is the number one attraction in Seville. That being said, it’s best to buy your tickets online ahead of time. Also, try to get there when it first opens to avoid the huge crowds. We got there exactly when it opened and the line was already around the corner and was even longer when we left about 2 hours later.

Hours: Daily 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Price: € 13.50, free Mondays April-Septembers 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM and October-March 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM | Purchase Royal Alcazar Tickets

Torre del Oro

Address | P.º de Cristóbal Colón, s/n, 41001 Sevilla, Spain

The Torre del Oro (tower of gold) was built in the 12th century to control shipping along the Guadalquivir River. It also served as a prison for some time, but now it’s a maritime museum. The Museo Naval showcases a small collection of antique maps and relics at the top of the tower. If you’re not interested in maritime history, you can also apparently get pretty views of the river and city from the top. We passed by the tower on our way to the Plaza de Toros, but didn’t go inside.

Opening Hours: Monday to Friday 9:30 AM to 6:45 PM, Saturday and Sunday 10:30 AM to 6:45 PM, closed on public holidays

Palacio de las Dueñas

Address | C. Dueñas, 5, 41003 Sevilla, Spain

Palacio de las Dueñas

Las Dueñas was built in the late 15th century during a golden era for Seville. Since 1612, the palace has belonged to the House of Alba and is currently owned by Carlos Fitz-James Stuart, 19th Duke of Alba.

The palace is really pretty, especially the central courtyard which features beautiful arches and decorative original plaster work. My favorite part of visiting Las Dueñas was seeing the photos of the royal family throughout and the vintage bullfighting posters. There’s so much history showcased in the palace which I feel is one of its biggest draws.

Las Dueñas is definitely worth a peek during your two days in Seville.

Hours: Summer (April to September): 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.  Last entry and access to the Palace is at 7:15 PM and will be emptied at 7:50 PM, Winter (October to March): 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Last entry and access to the Palace is at 5:15 PM and will be emptied at 5:50 PM

Closed on January 1st , January 6th and December 25th. Previous day will be open until 3:00 PM.

Seville Cathedral

Address | Av. de la Constitución, s/n, 41004 Sevilla, Spain

Seville Cathedral ceiling

Registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987, The Cathedral of Saint Mary of the See, or Seville Cathedral, is a must-see while visiting Seville. The cathedral is the largest Gothic temple in the world and also the final resting place of Christopher Columbus.

One of the coolest parts about visiting the Seville Cathedral is that you can take a tour of its rooftops. The tour takes you through different areas of the cathedral while teaching you the history of its construction. On the rooftop you’ll have time to take in the views and take pictures. You will have to climb several stairs to reach the roof, but it’s broken up into chunks so it’s not that bad.

I really enjoyed the tour, but make sure to give yourself enough time to look around the different parts of the cathedral and the Giralda tower (if you booked this) beforehand. We took the 4:00 PM rooftop tour and the cathedral was closed by the time it was over.

Hours: Monday to Saturday 10:45 AM to 6:00 PM, last access 5:00 PM. Sundays 2:30 PM to 7:00 PM, last access 6:00 PM

Price: €11 Online, €12 at Ticket Office for base ticket. Rooftop tour is extra. | Purchase Seville Cathedral Tickets

The arena houses a bullfighting museum where you can learn all about the history of the sport, and its importance in Spanish culture.

I will say that my idea of what bullfighting was and what actually happens differed greatly. I thought it was men with capes yelling Ole, which is part of it, just not the whole of it. It’s actually a very gruesome activity and it was definitely a learning experience going through the museum. That being said, I would be wary of visiting Plaza de Toros if you have strong positions/feelings about animal cruelty.

Hours: Monday to Sunday 9:30 AM – 7:30 PM, Days of bullfighting shows 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM. Last entry 30 minutes before the closing time. Closed on 25 December.

Setas de Sevilla

Address | Pl. de la Encarnación, s/n, 41003 Sevilla, Spain

One of the things we missed out on during our 2 days in Seville was visiting the Setas de Sevilla. It looks really cool from the pictures I’ve seen of it, so it’s one of the things I would definitely like to check out on a return trip to Seville.

Hours: Winter hours (November to March): Monday to Sunday from 09:30 AM to Midnight (final access half an hour before closing), Summer hours (April to October): Monday to Sunday from 09:30 AM to Midnight (final access half an hour before closing)
