Over Memorial Day Weekend, my friend Carla and I decided to drive out to Queen Creek to visit Schnepf Farms. They have peach orchards there and we thought it would be fun to go pick some peaches. I’ve been wanting to visit for awhile but it’s kind of a far drive from where I live. However, MDW seemed like a great time to check it out.
On our way there, we stopped at a Black Rock Coffee Bar for some morning fuel and then hopped back in the car to head to the farm. I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of nature in the orchards and by that I mean the lack of bugs. There were a couple of bees here and there but other than that, there weren’t many things crawling or flying around. We spent about 2 hours at the farm picking peaches and taking photos. I may have gone a little overboard on the peaches but I turned some of them into a tasty peach cobbler for Memorial Day.
Afterwards, we headed to the Queen Creek Olive Mill for Lunch. The food was really good. I ordered the arbequina, which was essentially an elevated roast beef dip sandwich and Carla had the manzi chicken sandwich. We bought a bottle of wine to drink with our meal from the on-site market store, and sat outside on the patio to enjoy the amazing weather Arizona has been having lately. It was so nice to sit back and chat for awhile. Overall, it was a beautiful day to visit Schnepf Farms and spend some time outdoors.
