24 Hours in Athens, Greece

Many people suggest skipping Athens if you’re short on time in Greece, but I definitely think it’s worth checking out. On my trip to Greece, we only had about 24 hours in Athens to explore and we were able to hit up most of the major sites. If you’re short on time in Athens, here’s what I suggest doing:

WHERE TO STAY IN ATHENS

During my trip we stayed in an Airbnb. It was a 20 minute walk from the Acropolis and located near a metro stop. It’s in the Koukaki area, but if I were to revisit Athens I would stay in Plaka. It was a cuter area that seemed to have more going on. Either way, if you only have 24 hours in Athens, I suggest staying near the Acropolis as its one of the must-sees.

WHERE TO EAT​ in Athens

• Pax Burgers
  Super affordable and delicious burgers. I tried the truffle fries and Dirty Bastard burger which came on a brioche bun with BBQ sauce, brisket, bacon, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, and lettuce. Both were great!  
• Lukumades
  Yummy little fried donuts! It’s right next to Pax so pop over after your burger for a sweet treat. You can get them filled, with toppings, or both. 
• Bubble Tale
  Bubble Tea! Try the green tea with mango syrup and peach popping pearls or red tea with peach syrup and strawberry popping pearls. 

WHAT TO DO with 24 Hours in Athens

With 24 hours in Athens, get yourself the Athens multi-site pass and see the historical sites of the city.

• Hadrian’s Arch 
• Acropolis 
• Ancient Agora 
• Temple of Olympian Zeus
