There are tons of things to do in Oahu, and this post would go on forever if I tried to list them all. Instead, I’ve compiled a list of some the most popular/ best things to do in Oahu, Hawaii. Some of these are personal recommendations (i.e. I’ve done them), while others are things that come highly recommended and I would do on a subsequent trip.

Kualoa Regional Park ATV Tour – My Favorite Activity in Oahu
The Kualoa Ranch ATV tour is one of the most popular things to do in Oahu. Many films and tv shows have been filmed on the ranch property such as Lost, 50 First Dates, and Jurassic Park to name a few. During the 2 Hour UTV Raptor Adventure, you’ll see some of the famous filming locations while being surrounded by insurmountable beauty.
Ka Moana Luau
There are a bunch of different Luau’s available in on the island. During my week on the island, we attended the Ka Moana Luau, which was nice. There were a couple of crafts to do, and the entertainment was great. However, the food wasn’t the best.
Captain Bob’s Picnic Sail – Oahu Catamaran Cruise
If there’s one thing I love doing on vacation, it’s getting to spend some time on a boat. We went on Captain Bob’s Picnic Sail and it was super fun. We went out to the the Kaneohe Sandbar and also got to o some snorkeling.
Hike Diamond Head – Top Thing to Do in Oahu
The Diamond Head Hike is often listed as one of the top things to do on Oahu, and it’s not without reason. For a relatively short hike, you’re rewarded with some stunning views of Oahu. As of 2022, if you’re not a local, you’ll have to reserve a time slot to access the trail. You can book up to 2 weeks in advance on the Go Hawaii State Parks website.
Grab a Smoothie or Smoothie Bowl from Sunrise Shake
Smoothies and smoothie bowls can be found all over Oahu, However, if you’re looking for a smoothie and a place to snap a cute photo in Oahu, head to Sunrise Shack on the north shore. The cute yellow shack is insta famous but also serves up some really good drinks and bowls.
Hang Out on Waikiki Beach
Although limited, there are a few free things to do in Honolulu such as hanging out on one of the most famous beaches, Waikiki Beach. Waikiki is a very popular beach in Oahu, which means it gets pretty crowded. Get there earlier in the day to secure a nice spot.
Pearl Harbor / USS Arizona Memorial
You can’t visit this islan and not stop by this historic Honolulu tourist attraction. It costs $1 to reserve your spot online. Just note that the time you book in the time of departure not the start time. If you show up late, the only way you can possibly complete your visit is by waiting in the standby line.
Kualoa Regional Park Secret Island Beach Tour
Another tour I recommend checking out at Kualoa Ranch in the Secret Island Beach Tour. You can either spend half the day on the beach or the full day which includes lunch. However, you are able to bring your own lunch, snacks, and drinks (no glass) with you. I suggest bringing a cooler or cooler backpack to keep your food. What’s nice about booking the secret beach tour is that it’s a private area that is not overrun by tourists. There’s plenty of space to stretch out, and activities to do as well. You can hang out in a hammock, or take advantage of the kayaks, paddle boards, canoes, catamarans, or glass bottom boat.
Zip Lining
I went zip lining in Costa Rica, and after the initial fear subsided I really enjoyed it! I would have loved to be able to go zip lining in Hawaii, but unfortunately, our itinerary was too booked to squeeze it in. However, next time I’m on the island its top of my list!
