If you’re getting ready to set out on a long haul flight, there’s some items you should definitely have in your bag. From skincare to general bits, I’ve compiled a list of things I love to carry when I fly and that make for a better flight experience. So, without further ado, here’s my long haul flight essentials:
Jet Lag Mask
After cleaning my face, I go in with Summer Friday’s Jet Lag Mask. The air on airplanes is super drying, but this amazing mask is super hydrating and keeps skin moisturized. Normally, you pat it off with a warm towel but you can leave it on the skin as is.
Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Face Mist
For an extra boost of hydration, a few spritz of Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Face Mist. This super fine mist is just what the skin needs. Also, use it as a sudo moisturizer when you’re about to land. Just use a facial wipe to clean your skin and then give your face a few sprays to hold your skin over till you get to your accommodation and can do a proper cleansing.
Chapstick
Your lips need some love too on a long haul flight. I really like the Jack Black Lip Balm, and the Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy Treatment Lip Balm has great reviews. You could also go in with a lip mask like this cult favorite one from Laniege.
Hand lotion
If you couldn’t tell by now, I’m a big advocate for keeping your skin hydrated when on a long flight or any flight for that matter. Here’s a few hand cream selections: Necessaire | L’Occitane | Caudalie
Water
I promise you this is the last thing that has to do with hydration! Make sure you’re drinking plenty of water on the plane. I suggest bringing a small refillable water bottle with you that you can fill up on and off the plane. Just don’t use the water in the plane bathrooms.
Hand Sanitizer and Sanitizing wipes
This one’s pretty simple. Planes are full of germs. Wipe down your seat, arm rests, and tray table. Wet Ones make some individual wrapped wipes so you don’t have to worry about them drying out. Also, the Touchland Hand Santizers are amazing!
Airborne/Emergen-C
Again. Planes are full of germs. Give your immune system a little boost with some Airborne or Emergen-C. And actually, while you’re at it, start taking this a few day before your flight.
Cozy socks/ or compression socks
If your feet and legs are prone to swelling, a pair of compression socks can definitely help. If that’s not a problem for you, a good pair of cozy socks are a great way to make yourself comfy.
Sleep Mask
Don’t fret if the person next to you decides to turn on their bright overhead light. Just slip on a cute sleep mask, and block it out.
Compatible Earbuds
If you’re on #teamiphone and have the headphones that plug into the power port, make sure to bring a pair of standard jack headphones so you can watch stuff on the onboard entertainment screens. These ones are a pretty basic pair and these are some nicer noise cancelling ones.
Or, you can opt for this bluetooth dongle that allows you to use your Apple headphones.
Pen
It’s hassle trying to get one from another passenger or flight attendant, so just keep a black or blue pen in your bag to fill out customs and immigration forms.

6 years agoThese are spot on. Although I know I should keep some of these items around, I completely fail to do that.

6 years agoAll absolutely great products to have on hand for travelling- they’d actually also be great for roadtrips, especially the “sleeping in the car” type. I’d love to try the Jetlag mask, can’t get enough of highly moisturizing ones!

6 years agoI’ve never done the mask thing on a flight but I definitely understand why you would. The air is so dry even my throat kinda hurts when I get off the plane!
